Description
Japi, is originally used as protective headgear woven out of bamboo and palm leaves worn by farmers protection against sun and rain. It is believed that it has influence of Thai or Mongolian Culture though the origin of Japi is yet to known. It has been used since the Chinese traveler Hiuene Tchang came to Assam. Being considered as indigenous attire of Assam, Japi is used in traditional stories and folk culture.
