The Bodo (or known as Bodo Kacharis) , being one of the oldest and largest ethnic group of
Assam refers to both language and community. Racially the Bodo belong to the Great
Mongoloid stock of the Indo-Mongoloids or Indo-Tibetans. The traditional loom of Bodo is
called Hisan. They prepare their loom materials from wood and bamboo. Bodo weavers are
expert in putting Agor ( design) in their clothes which designs are mainly inspired by nature. Their designs include Hill design, Flower of Elephant Apple, Footprints of Cat, eye of Fowl, Footprints of Bear, seeds of Bottle gourd, Flower of Jujube etc.
