The Tiwas or Lalungs are an ancient ethnic group of Assam dating back to many centuries in history. The Tiwa tribe of Assam is considered one of the sons of soil of Assam, because the community has contributed tremendously towards the culture of the greater Assamese community. This tribe is known for its beautiful attire and has a vibrant traditional costume. Motifs like Lotus, Silkworm, Flower, Fern Birds and eyes of pigeon, Black Bee, Spider Feet,
Butterfly, Lion, Cow and Tiger are used in Tiwa attire.
